Rodgers helps small businesses with a $ 1 million gift

Aaron Rodgers“Philanthropic avenues have now totaled more than $ 1 million given to small businesses in and around his hometown of Chico, California, the North Valley Community Foundation said Monday.

The Green Bay Packers Quarterback founded the Aaron Rodgers Small-Business COVID-19 Fund last month.

Nine of these companies have received personal video calls from Rodgers and North Valley Community Foundation President / CEO Alexa Benson-Valavanis. which can be viewed on Rodgers’ Instagram account.

“Small locally owned businesses are the heart and soul of a community,” Rodgers said in a statement. “In the applications and videos, it was heartbreaking to hear about all of the barriers restaurants and retailers face. So many of them are just struggling to stay in business but remain confident that this will come to an end.”

Rodgers, a native of Chicoer, who also began his college career there at Butte College before moving to Cal, started the fund initially with a donation of $ 500,000. He doubled it shortly afterwards. Another $ 100,000 was added in donations.

Rodgers had previously donated $ 1 million to help Butte County recover from wildfire in November 2018. Restaurants and retailers with 20 or fewer full-time equivalents could apply for help through the Rodgers Fund. Many restaurants still unable to serve diners indoors due to California restrictions were among the 80 companies that received aid from the fund.
