in the a new interview supported by Colossal membersJeroen Smeets delves into the story behind it The flight, a travel project he founded in 2013. Since then, the project has sent more than 70 artists to new destinations around the world – locations ranging from Helsinki to Los Angeles to Caye Caulker, Belize – with the goal of: producing a single hand-drawn screen print.

We try not to guide or structure your journey. And that’s what makes this project unique in my opinion. Usually artists travel to set up exhibitions, work on a specific project, or paint murals, but rarely do they go to a place to find new inspiration.

In this conversation with Colossal editor-in-chief Christopher JobsonSmeets talks about The Jaunt’s first collaboration, some of the surprising experiences the artists had on excursions, and the next steps for the ongoing project.
