Here’s a breakdown of Friday’s main games and what the results mean for the sowing:
Joel Embiid comes up with a block when Ben Simmons goes all the way for a two-handed jam against the magic.
The top seeds in the east are officially settled and belong to them Philadelphia 76ers. With a win over Magic on Friday, the Sixers took home advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs and, perhaps more importantly, positioned themselves on the other side of the bracket than the Nets and Bucks.
It’s the first time since 2001 that the Sixers have been the top seed when Allen Iverson led them to the NBA final against the Lakers during the playoffs.
Who plays Philly in the first round is determined by the play-in, with the Celtics, Hornets, Pacers and Wizards in play for the 8-seed.
Picking the top seeds is a boost but not necessarily an accomplishment for the Sixers as coach Doc Rivers downplayed its importance earlier in the week.
“I don’t see seed # 1 as that great feat,” said Rivers. “I just think it’s great to have about the home court [advantage]. Success wins [the championship]. ” – Royce Young
It was a notable turnaround for the Wizards, who were between 17 and 32 years old on April 5th and were outside the playoff picture of the East. They have since gone 16-6, which meant a seven-game winning streak and got them into the top 10.
With one game left to play, there’s more to play as the Wizards are a game behind the Hornets and Pacers for eighth and ninth place. The difference between # 8 and # 9 is obviously huge, ranging from a possible one-and-do game to the need to lose two games to be eliminated.
And guess what? The Wizards end the regular season against the Hornets on Sunday while the Pacers close out with the Lakers (which is a must for LA). The Wizards keep the tiebreaker on the Pacers, which would bring them forward if Washington closes with a win and the Lakers beat Indiana. The Hornets play against the Knicks on Saturday and secure a higher place than the Wizards with a win thanks to a 2-1 tiebreaker of the season. But should the Hornets lose, a massive seeding game ensues between Washington and Charlotte. – young
The Clippers lost to the worst team in the NBA – and that’s actually not a bad thing.
They fell from third place with their 122: 115 defeat against the Rockets and the 104: 91 win of Denver against Detroit. The loss of the Clippers also brought on the Pacific Division for that Phoenix Suns.
The clips used this game against Houston as a sitting game (second of two consecutive games) Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Patrick Beverley (Hand), Reggie Jackson (Achilles) and Terance man (personally) did not play. Serge IbakaThe last rotation player to return from injury returned with a back issue after 30 missed games and looked good with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 17 minutes.
Denver owns the tiebreaker over the clippers for the third seed, which goes into the last day of the regular season on Sunday. But fourth seed might actually be a better place because it means avoiding the Lakers who could still move up to sixth place. The fourth seed will face either Dallas or Portland; Both teams own the tiebreaker over the Lakers.
The Clippers would face Dallas or Portland with confidence. LA treated Dallas in the postseason last year and swept Portland this year.

The play-in tournament won’t be the Mavericks’ problem. Dallas took a top 6 result in the west with a 114-110 win over the remnants of the US on Friday Toronto Raptors.
Dorian Finney-Smith empties a large 3-pointer and Luka Doncic follows him with a one-handed slam as the Mavs take down the Raptors.
The win gave the Mavs a 1½-game pillow over that Los Angeles Lakers Only one road trip to Minnesota is on the regular Dallas season schedule. The Mavs can take the fifth seed with a win over the Timberwolves or a loss to the Nuggets in Portland on Sunday.
The sixth seed is still within reach of the Lakers if LA wins and the Trail Blazers lose to the Nuggets at home.
