Best of Thursday at NFL mini camps: League goes into summer break

The mandatory NFL mini-camps concluded Thursday, marking the official start of the NFL’s summer break, before players sign up for training camps in five weeks’ time.

Some teams are cutting back on their mini-camps and giving players an extra day to relax in an exotic location somewhere or at home while waiting for the release of Madden 22, which features a cover Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid said he was “pulling” for Le’Veon Bell despite the free agent’s recent comments, Pittsburgh Steelers Backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins is ready to “prove” how much he loves football and who Miami dolphins showed their new facility.

Brady and Mahomes share the Madden 22 front

The last time the NFL played a game, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes were on the opposite sideline at Super Bowl LV. Now, before the 2021 season kicks off, these quarterbacks will be back together – on the latest Madden cover. Mahomes and Brady share the cover of Madden 22, the EA Sports video game that has become part of NFL culture. It’s the first time in more than a decade that two players have been at the front of the game.

Haskins says his goal is to “prove” that he loves football
For the first time since his release from Washington, former first round quarterback Dwayne Haskins said he has a primary target in trying to restart his career with the Steelers. “I just wanted to show the coaching staff and my team-mates how much I love football,” said Haskins.

Andy Reid moves for Le’Veon Bell
Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid declined to engage in a war of words with running back Le’Veon Bell, saying, “I’ll draw for him in the future.” Bell, who joined the Chiefs last season but played little, recently posted on Instagram that he would retire before playing for Reid again.
