Stroll through a playground in Taiwan and you might stumble upon an elephant amid basketball courts and swings. Vintage slides in the shape of a lumbering animal were once popular in the country, and while the equipment is generally no longer used because it doesn’t comply with current regulations, the eclectic designs remain a staple in both abandoned and thriving playgrounds. photographer Pi Cheng Hsiu documents hundreds of these whimsical creations – in addition to similarly shaped animals like seahorses and giraffes – and you will find a wide variety of colors and styles Instagram.
