Buckeyes’ Stroud turns out to be Heisman’s favorite

The chances of winning the Heisman Trophy shifted over the course of the weekend Ohio state Quarterback C. J. Stroud as the odds favorite in US sports betting.

Stroud is the favorite at -220 on Caesars Sportsbook, followed by Alabama Quarterback Bryce Young at +175.

Stroud entered the weekend behind Young in the Heisman odds but showed a productive performance at the Buckeyes’ 56-7 route of the state of Michigan on Saturday. Stroud completed 32 of 35 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns. The freshman quarterback has 3,468 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions this season. He’ll have a spotlight game this weekend when the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to face rival Michigan. Ohio State is an 8-point favorite over the Wolverines.

Young also had a big game on Saturday, setting an Alabama single game record at 559 yards on the Crimson Tide’s Win 42-35 over Arkansas. He made seven touchdowns, including five through the air.

Stroud is the latest in a series of Heisman’s favorites this season. Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler, Mississippi quarterback Matt Corral and Young both had the best chances of winning the Heisman Trophy this season. Corral is now 20-1, followed by Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker at 25-1.

The Heisman ballot papers will be distributed on November 29th, the voting period ends on December 6th. The presentation of the Heisman ceremony will take place on December 11th.
